The first transnational meeting of the project took place in Romania, at “Gh.I Bratianu” School, from Iasi, Romania, which is also the project coordinator.

On November 20th 2017, the principal warmly welcomed visitors and introduced the teaching staff. In addition, she made a short presentation of the school. The partner schools presented themselves. The project coordinator, Gabriela Iancu made power point presentations about Romania, its culture, monuments, important cities and geography. Afterwards, the visitors visited the school, discussed with children, teachers, primary- teachers (classrooms, labs). The foreign students and the Romanians have also been involved in interactive activities (e.g. The Name Game, Guess the country). An important contribution took the parents of the School "Gh.I. Bratianu", who hosted foreign students, fondling them with delicious dishes prepared for the Welcome Party. Each country presented the national cuisine.

On the 21st of November 2017, took place the official launch of the project at Tatarasi Ateneum, where there were invited representatives of the local community (from Section 4 of the Police, from NGO -Save the Child Organization from Iasi, parents, mass media). Mrs. principal Cristina Simirad and the coordinator of the project, Gabriela Iancu, made a presentation of the project (partners, objectives, duration, main activities, expected results, impact, evaluation, dissemination, sustainability etc). The teachers and children from the partner schools made also presentations about their cities, countries, their school system. The artistic moments were offered by the choir of the "Gh.I. Bratinu" School (performed Ode to Joy  by Ludwig van Beethoven), by former and current pianists of the school (Cristian Roman, Robert Vartic, accompanied by teacher Smaranda Acatrinei), singers (Zaharia Emiliana, Buca Stefana), piano performers ( Baciu Rares, Achirei Emilian, Iolea Cosmina). The school popular dance team and two Qwan Ki Do European champions (Milies Bianca- from “Gh.I.Bratianu” School and Cristian Ciornei), the Greek team completed the artistic moment.  In the afternoon, the project team worked on DOVES project’s home page

On the 22nd of November 2017 Romanian and foreign teachers and pupils, involved in the project, visited the "Al.I.Cuza" University from Iasi, the oldest university in Romania. They made a tour of University, visited „M. Eminescu” Aula, The Hall of Senat, "Gh. Asachi" Technical University Library. A representative from Media Department was our guide.

The foreign guests and the Romanian team participated at a seminar on the theme of preventing and combating violence, coordinated by psychologist Cretu Alexandru. He also presented the following materials: The role of cognitive style and school motivation in choosing learning strategies by the students, Effects of digital textbooks in primary school, Study conducted in 2015-2017 by PhD. Alina Ticau (Sirghea), from the Faculty of Psychology and Educational Sciences.

 In the afternoon, the DOVES project team visited the Metropolitan Cathedral, and its Musem (The Role of Church in Preventing Domestic Violence), other important cultural attractions in Iasi, from the City Center.

In the days of 23rd and 24th November 2017, the children have carried out an exhibition of flyers, on the topic of domestic violence and of the school violence, they have participated in other seminars coordinated by a former policewoman, psychologists or volunteers from the Faculty of Psychology and of Education Sciences from Iasi, by Gh.I.Bratianu School ITC teacher, by the project coordinator in Romania. The brochures of the project were also presented.

  • Safer School, Safer Communities- Cyber Bullying (presented by Laurentiu Burlacu, “Gh.I.Bratianu” School ITC teacher;
  • The profile of a Successful Peer- Mediator; School Violence. Definition, Types, Causes, Prevention and Intervention; presented by psychologist Cretu Alexandru;
  • Effects of Parents’ Migration Abroad on Children, presented by Gabriela Iancu, project coordinator in Romania;
  • "Where there is No Law, There is No Liberty"- Meeting with representatives of the Local Police.

    At the end of the meeting where done the following activities:

  • A short questionnaire for the evaluation of the first meeting's activities was administered;
  • Discussions on the activities done from September to November 2017, objectives of the next meetings in Poland (March 2018) and Greece (April 2018) were established; Both students and teachers have had great opportunities to use and improve their skills in English.

 In addition to the program of the school, host families have offered to guests the opportunity to know the city and surroundings by visiting museums, monasteries, memorial houses, in the afternoons.
